Horse racing tips: Templegate NAP will hack up under Frankie Dettori plus King George runner-by-runner guide

TEMPLEGATE tackles a monster Saturday of racing confident of building the bank for a huge week at Goodwood and Galway.

Read on for our man’s tips and back a horse by clicking their odds.

EMILY UPJOHN (3.40 Ascot, nap)

She can give Frankie Dettori a win in his last King George VI Stakes. She is best over this distance and showed her liking for Ascot when winning the Champion Fillies’ Stakes in soft ground last season. The Gosden filly found 1m2f too sharp in the Coral-Eclipse but still ran well.

LETHAL LEVI (2.40 York, nb)

He usually runs well at York and was second in a similar race to this here at the Dante meeting. He went close at Newcastle last time and is on a fair mark.

MY PROSPERO (3.15 York, treble)

He should find this easier than the hot contests he’s been running in. He was a solid third in the Lockinge before finding the Prince Of Wales’s hot at Royal Ascot. This trip suits and she can get back in front.

Templegate’s TV verdicts

ASCOT

1.50

PRETTY CRYSTAL was a good fifth in the Albany here last time on the back of a good debut win. There’s a lot more to come.

Komat was a place behind her at the Royal meeting when finishing strongly and looks right in the hunt again.

Sacred Angel had plenty left in the tank when winning at Newmarket and has scope for improvement.

Dazzling Star and Symbology can both build on last time wins, while La Guarida will be happier over this trip.

2.25

ZENGA was unlucky not to win a Pontefract Listed earlier this month and is a big price to make the frame. This trip suits and she likes give in the ground.

Joseph O’Brien has two big chances with Cadeau Belle just preferred to French winner Thornbrook after a smooth success at Navan latest.

Random Harvest was beaten just a neck in a Royal Ascot Group 2 so is a major threat. She handles it soft and is a major player over an ideal trip.

Ameynah has been off since finishing sixth in last year’s 1,000 Guineas adn could be anything.

3.00

RAMAZAN took a big step forwar when winning over this tricky trip at Haydock last time.

He is here with a 3lb penalty for in-form Richard Fahey and has more to give.

Baradar hated fast ground at the Royal meeting after a solid sixth in the Victoria Cup on soft. He’s a threat.

Biggles won the Bunbury Cup in style and will be a major danger again.

Vafortino likes this track and has a 5lb claimer on today which should help.

Tacarib Bay could improve for a gelding op, while last year’s winner Fresh is off a similar mark.

3.40 Pinstickers’ guide to King George

BOLSHOI BALLET 1

BALLET low. Second in the Wolferton at the Royal meeting and likely here to make the pace. Hard to fancy.

DEAUVILLE LEGEND 1

NO Deau. Fourth in the Melbourne Cup but has decent form over this trip including a Great Voltigeur win. Well behind Pyledriver latest.

HAMISH 2

HAM actor. Top-class stayer in the mud and goes well here. More rain will help his chances but he’s playing for a place at best in this company at this distance.

HUKUM 4

KUM on. Won Group 1 Coronation Cup ahead of Pyledriver last year. Back from a year off to score nicely at Sandown and this trip is ideal. Needs it soft so all the rain has helped and he’s high on shortlist.

LUXEMBOURG 3

LOOK at Lux. Group 1 winner over 1m2f and shapes like this trip will suit. Likes it soft and could hit frame if improving a little.

POINT LONSDALE 2

MISSED Point. Group 2 winner but didn’t stay this far at Epsom last time and likely to come up short.

PYLEDRIVER 4

PYLE it on. Won this well last year and as good as ever back from a break to score at Royal Ascot. Will go very close again at his favourite track provided the ground isn’t too soft.

WESTOVER 3

GIVE over. Dual Group 1 winner including in France lat time. Likes this trip and yard in form. Worry is the ground as he ideal wants it fast.

EMILY UPJOHN 5

EM appeal. Top-class filly over this trip and ran a cracker in Eclipse over shorter trip. Won Group 1 here on this ground in October and has great partnership with Frankie.

AUGUSTE RODIN 4

HOT Rod. Derby winner who just about followed up in the Irish version when not at his best. Trip suits and won a Group 1 in the mud last season but also likes it fast. Should improve but needs to.

KING OF STEEL 4

SOLID Steel. Derby second who showed his class when winning a Royal Ascot Group 2. Loves this trip and capable of much better. Should handle the ground and go close.

YORK

2.05

TRAINER Paul Midgley has a great record in this but he runs six, the pick of which could be STRONG JOHNSON after his solid run at Nottingham last time.

Leodis Dream was second in this last year and is a threat along with Glory Fighter who likes this trip.

Away from Midgley, Speedacus won well at Donny and a 4lb rise in the weights is fair.

Sampers Seven has gone close in stronger races than this and will be a danger from a falling mark. Count D’Orsay is in flying form and is another to consider.

2.40

LETHAL LEVI usually runs well at York and was second in a similar race to this here at the Dante meeting.

He went close at Newcastle last time and is on a fair mark.

Aberama Gold is only 1lb higher than his last win and was a bit unlucky at Ayr latest. He’s run well here before.

Summerghand is not the force he was but is coming nicely down the weights so looks a threat.

Music Society has been knocking on the door and won’t be far away.

3.15

MY PROSPERO should find this easier than the hot contests he’s been running in.

He was a solid third in the Lockinge before finding the Prince Of Wales’s hot at Royal Ascot. This trip suits and she can get back in front.

Alflaila had plenty in hand when scoring at Newmarket on the back of a victory here. He can figure in this stronger company.

Royal Champion won the Listed Wolferton over this trip and could fill the forecast spot.

Mashhoor has won his last three and will try to nick this from the front.
