Tori Kelly gives fans health update after singer was hospitalised for blood clots: ‘Still some things to uncover’

Tori Kelly has returned to social media to give fans a health update, days after she was rushed to hospital.

The singer collapsed in an LA restaurant and was reportedly found to have “life-threatening blood clots” in her legs and near her lungs while in ICU.

Kelly, 30, told fans in a handwritten note the “unexpected health challenges” have been “scary” and left her “heartbroken” at having to delay some of her work projects but knows her “health must come first”.

“It’s been a scary few days but I can feel your prayers and can’t stop thinking about you,” she wrote to fans.

“I’m feeling stronger now and hopeful but unfortunately there are still some things to uncover. I’m so grateful to the amazing doctors and nurses who have been looking after me.”

She reassured fans she will still release her self-titled EP as planned on Friday in the US (Saturday AEST).

“Until I see you again, I still want you to enjoy a project that represents the happy place I’ve been in the last few years. I won’t let this hurdle prevent the music from being yours on Friday.”

In concluding the note, she thanked fans for their well-wishes and signed off with love hearts.

“I love you all so much and I am truly overwhelmed by all of the love and care I have received,” she wrote.

Just hours before Kelly made her post, husband André Murillo gave an update on his Instagram Story, saying in a text post that his wife was “smiling again and feeling stronger”.

“Not fully out of the woods but we see the sun,” the former athlete said, adding: “Just waiting on a few more answers.”

“Your love and kindness has been overwhelming. Thank you so much!”

The answers they’re waiting on are believed to be what caused the clots in the 30-year-old singer and how to prevent them in future.

Kelly rose to fame as a contestant on American Idol in 2010, and amassed a huge online following through her singing in YouTube videos.
