What happened to Paul Mullin?
Mullin was rushed to hospital after a collision with Manchester United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop during their US tour in San Diego on Wednesday July 26, 2023.
The goalkeeper needed to step out of his goal after Mullin won a long ball duel with defender Jonny Evans.
Bishop then hit Mullin to the ground, which caused the game to stop.
Mullin left the field with an oxygen mask and was rushed to hospital.
Wrexham confirmed after the game that he suffered from a punctured lung.
How is Paul Mullin?
Mullin said he is doing well.
He posted a selfie on his Instagram story with the caption: “Thank you for all your message. All good here.”
Ryan Reynolds, owner of the club, wished Mullin on Twitter a speedy recovery.
He said: “Paul Mullin puts his last drop of blood into everything he does.
“The entire Wrexham community is pulling for a speedy recovery.”
Bishop posted an apology of the foul to Mullin on his social media saying:“Just wanted to share my sincerest apologies to Paul Mullin.
“A complete misjudgement and a genuine accident with zero malicious intent at all!
“Wishing you the speediest recovery and hope to see you back scoring goals as soon as possible!”
When could Paul Mullin return from injury?
It is not confirmed yet when he could return from his injury, however, he will miss the opening game of the new League Two season on August 5, 2023, against Milton Keynes.
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said about the injury: “If you have a punctured lung and only ten days to get fit, you have to say that’s that.
“We will assess things tonight and find out the extent of the injury and then make decisions accordingly.
“We all stick together and will give Paul every bit of support we can to help him get back.
“One thing about Mulls is he is tough.
“Losing a key player is a blow.
“But injuries are part and parcel of football.
“We’ve dealt with blows before and we will deal with this one.”
