Use up leftovers or upgrade a gin and tonic with these cool ideas.

GET FRUITY: If you have fruit going out of date, blend it and freeze it.

On busy mornings, retrieve it from the freezer and blitz into a quick smoothie with milk.

Another option is to blend the fruit as it is and add it straight into porridge or fresh smoothies for a vitamin hit.

HERBAL INFUSION: Fill your ice cube trays with chopped herbs for a refreshing addition to water or alcoholic beverages.

This is a great way to add flavour to your drinks without adding calories or sugar.

Rosemary and mint ice cubes take a gin and tonic to the next level.

TEA TIME: Make a cooling iced tea drink that’s perfect for hot days.

Brew a strong pot of black tea and let it cool.

Pour the liquid into the ice cube tray and add garnishes such as chopped fruit or mint.

Freeze and add to a glass of water or lemonade along with a teaspoon of sugar.

READY BREKKIE: Pancakes are a great breakfast option, but making the batter every morning takes time and effort.

Instead, make a large batch of batter and then pour into oversized ice cube trays.

When you want pancakes, take out the cubes, pop into a pan on a low heat and watch it melt to form perfect pancakes.

BATH BOMBS: For a comprehensive DIY bath-bomb masterclass head to youtube.com/@MELScience1.

To make your own, mix five tablespoons of baking soda, citric acid and vegetable oil in a glass bowl.

Add optional food colouring and stir.

Transfer to a silicone ice cube tray and leave it in the freezer overnight.

When you’re ready to use, pop a few cubes into your bath and enjoy watching it fizz!
