The item of clothing you should always wear on planes – even if flight attendants tell you it’s gross

A TRAVEL enthusiast has revealed why passengers shouldn’t worry about wearing certain clothes on planes, even if flight attendants tell them not to.

Cabin crew members regularly provide people with advice for what they should and shouldn’t wear on flights, but they might not always be right.

For example, there are lots of examples of flight attendants telling passengers that they shouldn’t wear shorts on planes.

One of those is TikTok user Tommy Cimato, who warned against bottoms that end above the knee in a viral video, saying that the chairs aren’t regularly cleaned.

He said: “Don’t, or try not to, wear shorts when you’re on an aeroplane.

“You never know how clean it’s gonna be, so if you have pants, you’re going to have less germs.”

Tommy isn’t the only one, with Suezanna, who goes by the name suezannaj on TikTok, showing why she wouldn’t wear shorts on planes after conducting an experiment in the cabin.

In her video, she swabbed the seats of a plane before putting the bacteria in a petri dish and showing the results of her experiment.

In a video, she said: “I wanted to see how dirty these aircraft seats really are, so I took it upon myself to do a test.

“Here you have it – aircraft seats are pretty much dirty as hell.

“It just makes you think about all the people who wear shirt sleeved shirts, or short shorts on a plane, or those really short skirts.”

However, journalist Palmer Haasch has gone against the grain and said that passengers shouldn’t worry about germs and instead should prioritise their comfort.

She wrote in Insider: “Do whatever is going to make you the most comfortable, because you never know when you could be stuck on the tarmac or subject to some other disaster.

“When it comes to hygiene, some of the dirtiest airline surfaces are the ones that your hands touch, not your legs.”

Palmer also explained that passengers can prepare for germs in the cabin in other ways.

She continued: “It’s worth being prepared — and packing hand sanitiser and disinfectant wipes to wipe down your seating area — either way.”

Although the seats can be one of the dirtiest places on a plane, the tray tables could be the worst.

In a thread on Reddit, one cabin crew member revealed the number of things they’ve seen on the tray tables that are not fit for human consumption, as they warned passengers about the issue.

They wrote: “The tray tables are gross.

“Can’t even remember how many times I’ve seen babies changed on them, puke on them, people bleed on them…

“They’re supposed to be cleaned nightly, but I wouldn’t put food directly on them. Nope nope nope!”
