Who is Henry Searle?
Henry Searle is a British tennis player.
He was born on March 29, 2006, in Wolverhampton.
In July 2023 he won the Wimbledon Boys’ singles title.
He became the first British boys’ singles champion at Wimbledon since 1962.
Henry is a big football fan and is a fan of his local Premier League team Wolverhampton Wanderers.
He is training at LTA National Tennis Academy at Loughborough University under coach Morgan Phillips.
Henry told LTA Tennis: “I started playing tennis at the age of three at my local tennis club, Newbridge Tennis Club.
“I was taken away with any sport at that age and just enjoyed playing anything.
“I always loved picking up a racket but it was a few years later that I really started to love it so I stopped playing football at the age of 11 and pursued tennis full time.”
What junior tennis titles has Henry Searle won?
As of July 2023, Henry won five junior tennis titles in his career.
He earned his first title in 2022 at the Under 16 & Junior British National Championship.
Henry won his next titles at the ITF Juniors in 2023, where he won the singles and doubles events at the J200 Aldershot.
Furthermore, he received a doubles crown at the J300 in San Jose.
In July 2023 he made history by winning the Boy’s Single title at Wimbledon as the first British contestant in 61 years.
He told SkySports after his win: “I’ll definitely try and prepare myself for it, I’ll keep working hard and see what happens.
“It is amazing to play on Court One with such a special crowd and manage to get the job done.
“It’s a pretty special feeling and it is not going to come too often and I am going to try and enjoy it.
“It was amazing in front of this crowd today.”
