Man City Treble hero ‘agrees terms with Saudi club Al-Ahli’ with champions braced for £30m transfer bid

RIYAD MAHREZ has agreed to leave Manchester City and join Saudi side Al-Ahli, according to reports.

The Algerian helped Pep Guardiola’s side achieve a historic Treble last season.

Al-Ahli, who are owned by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund, are prepared to table a £30million bid for the 32-year-old.

This would represent good value for City, given Mahrez’s age – and that he has only two years remaining on his contract.

According to Saudi outlet Ariyadhiah, Mahrez has agreed to join Al-Ahli.

They add that he will undergo a medical before signing a contract.

Mahrez is believed to have been offered a package worth around £480,000 a week.

Despite the value of the deal, City boss Pep Guardiola is claimed to want to keep Mahrez for next season.

Following Ilkay Gundogan’s departure for Barcelona, Bernardo Silva could be destined for more of a midfield role in future.

This would open up more minutes on Mahrez’s favoured right flank.

The former Leicester star made 47 appearances in all competitions for City last term, scoring 15 goals and laying on 13 assists.

His importance waned in his side’s Champions League campaign, however, playing just 11 minutes beyond the last 16 phase.

Mahrez joined City from Leicester in 2018.

He has gone on to appear 236 times for Guardiola’s men, netting 78 goals and laying on a further 59 for others.

With City, Mahrez has won four Premier League titles, two FA Cups, three League Cups and the Champions League.

He also inspired Leicester to the Prem title in 2015-16, in addition to winning the Africa Cup of Nations with his country in 2019.
