Man City outcast Joao Cancelo ‘wanted by Barcelona on loan transfer if Spanish giants fail to snare LaLiga star’

BARCELONA will consider a loan move for Manchester City outcast Joao Cancelo if they fail to land their top target, Spanish reports say.

The LaLiga champions are in the market for a right-back to add to their squad this summer.

Barcelona will reportedly consider a loan move for Manchester CityRex

And according to Mundo Deportivo, Barca are eyeing a move for Valladolid’s Ivan Fresneda.

But it is claimed if a deal cannot be struck, the Spanish giants will turn their attention to Cancelo.

The Portuguese defender left City in January to join Bayern Munich on loan with the option to make the move permanent for £60million.

But after 21 appearances in Germany, Bayern opted against signing Cancelo, leaving the full-back in the lurch.

It could leave Barca ready to swoop in but only for another loan move.

City boss Pep Guardiola formerly managed Xavi during his time in the Nou Camp dugout meaning the pair enjoy a good relationship.

But Barca’s priority signing would be 18-year-old wonderkid Fresneda, also linked with Arsenal.

Although the Gunners trail behind the Spanish champions in the transfer race amid reports Barca met with the player’s agent.

Sporting director Deco is said to have met with Fresneda’s agent on to discuss a deal and the pair were even pictured together.

Deco is believed to have informed the star’s representative that Barcelona are only willing to pay a maximum of £8.5m for Fresneda.

But Valladolid previously slapped a £35m price tag on the defender, who played 24 times last season and has been capped by Spain at youth level.
