Pellistri provided one assist in 10 first-team appearances last season, but United are now keen to loan him out to aid his development.

According to Uruguayan reporter Fabian Bertolini, the Red Devils plan to extend Pellistri’s contract first.

His current deal expires in 2025, although United do have the option to extend it by a further year.

The report adds that Pellistri will then be sent out on loan for the upcoming season, with Real Betis and FC Twente potential destinations.

Both moves would provide Pellistri with European football as Betis are in the Europa League and Twente will appear in the Europa Conference League.

Pellistri previously spent 18 months on loan at Spanish side Alaves before returning to Old Trafford last summer.

United have long been planning to tie the 21-year-old down to a new deal, having been considering an offer since March.

The club see a new deal and a loan move as the next steps in Pellistri’s development.
