Rahman, 29, joined Chelsea in an initial £14million transfer from Augsburg in 2015.

He played 23 times in his first season at Stamford Bridge.

But that was to be his final ever appearance in a Blues shirt as he spent the next seven seasons out on loan.

Rahman played for Schalke, Reims, Mallorca and PAOK.

And he spent the past two seasons in the Championship with relegated Reading.

But Rahman has finally left Chelsea after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract.

And former Greek loan side PAOK have moved to snap him up on a two-year deal for free.

Fans quickly reacted online, with some surprised Rahman had still been contracted to Chelsea until now.

But others reckoned he could have made an impact under Mauricio Pochettino at the expense of £60m flop Cucurella.

One said: “Would’ve done better than King Cucurella.”

Another declared: “We’ll regret this like Salah and De Bruyne.”

One noted: “End of an era.”

Another added: “Can’t even believe he is still a Chelsea player.”

One yelped: “We shouldn’t have let this generational talent leave for free.”
