“Who would have thought, when I bought you up here as a little boy?”

After signing for United, Mount reiterated that he was a Portsmouth fan as a kid – not a Chelsea supporter.

His dad Tony took to to Old Trafford to watch his beloved team in 2008 – witnessing Cristiano Ronaldo’s incredible free-kick.

Speaking to United’s media team, Mount said: “I was probably around 10, I was there in the away end, supporting my team Pompey and was able to witness that special moment.

“I think that video of me taking the free-kick [for Chelsea’s academy] was after that day.

“It inspired me and seeing that moment at Old Trafford, in the away end, I was in awe of that situation and that iconic moment. I’d love to now replicate it.”
