Mount completed his £60million move to Old Trafford on Wednesday morning, signing a five-year deal with the Red Devils.
The move had been at risk of collapsing after Chelsea rejected a £55million bid from United last month.
However, the two clubs finally reached an agreement to allow the deal to be finalised, thanks in part to the player’s dad, Tony Mount.
According to The Athletic, Tony stepped in as United looked ready to walk away from the deal.
In a phone call with Chelsea co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, he smoothed over the cracks to help reach an agreement.
Chelsea’s owners had been unwilling to budge from their valuation of £70million plus add-ons for Mount.
The report adds that the conversation has been credited with getting talks re-started before the deal was completed.

Mount had been entering the final year of his Chelsea contract after failing to agree terms on a new deal.
He now leaves Stamford Bridge after 18 years to join United.
His new side have already confirmed the England midfielder will wear the number seven shirt, last worn by Cristiano Ronaldo.
