MANCHESTER UNITED’S takeover saga could be completed today.

That’s with Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani reportedly winning the race to replace the Glazers.

United’s American owners put the club up for sale in November.

And they targeted a deadline of March to ease the transition before the summer transfer window.

However, United remains unsold after fielding multiple bids.

And the race has boiled down to two participants, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim.

Ratcliffe is looking for majority control while keeping the Glazers on board in some capacity.

While Sheikh Jassim is seeking a 100 per cent full takeover at Old Trafford.

And Qatari outfit Raya now claims his bid is finally set to be accepted, with the Glazers signing all relevant documents in the coming hours.

Sheikh Jassim’s people are already said to be “expressing their confidence” in emerging victorious.

And an announcement could even be made later today, bringing an end to United’s takeover saga.

Rio Ferdinand had suggested that a disagreement between the Glazer siblings had held the deal up until now.

He told Vibe with Five: “I had some news from a very good source, my great source at Manchester United.

“Things were running quite smoothly and it was going down the right path but then obviously [it hit a bump].

“I think the big issue is, when you’re dealing with a group of people rather than an individual, it makes things very complex and difficult at times.

“You’re not dealing with one individual with the Glazers – I think Jim Ratcliffe came out and said it.

“That’s been the issue behind the scenes, I didn’t want to come out and say it, but you’re dealing with siblings in the Glazer family who are there to make a collective decision.

“I don’t think one person can just make a decision on their own, so therefore that makes it very difficult to say yes immediately just like that [clicks fingers]. It’s a process that they have to go through.”
