Australian actress Bianca Wallace marks five years since noticing her Multiple Sclerosis symptoms

Australian actress Bianca Wallace is taking the time to celebrate something a little bit unconventional.

The Expired star took to her Instagram to post a video commemorating five years since she first noticed her symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis.

She shared with fans that today, July 5, is a “noteworthy day in my life”.

“It’s a day that I celebrate every year… this year is five years, half a decade, since the MS came up… It pops up in my calendar and I have a happy moment,” Wallace said.

“Obviously the memory itself is not that great and it took me a long time to come to terms with it all, of course, but now this is the day to me that the beginning of my life started. This was the start to my life, this was the start to my journey. To everything that was ahead.”

“I think that we should celebrate our adversities, our triumph over adversity because it’s important,” she declared.

“These are the days of our life that change us, that create who we are, that change the trajectory, change the life that we thought that we wanted, we were living. These are the key moments in our life and they should be celebrated.

She clarified that today marks five years since she noticed the symptoms, with her official diagnosis coming later in October that year, meaning that she will also likely be celebrating that milestone in a few months time.

“I think it’s crucial and important to celebrate these moments and do not let them take you… these anniversaries, they really pack a punch in these kind of situations,” Wallace continued.

“We should always aim to get to the point in life that we’re celebrating our adversity. Celebrate who you become because of it.”

The 30-year-old also reflected back on her first year of battling the disease in her Instagram stories, sharing pictures from the hospital on the day she noticed her symptoms in 2018, taking time to rest and recover throughout the year, and slowly returning back to work.

The Nana’s Footsteps actress first shared her diagnosis last year, sharing that she was first clued into her symptoms when she worked in accounting and was unable to pick up a pen.

She said she now occasionally goes blind in her left eye, has tremors, and that the entire right sight of her body has nerve damage.

Despite all the negatives of the disease, she said the diagnosis actually became her “lucky charm”, becoming the push for her to get into acting and “appreciate life for what it is.”

Wallace has been acting since 2020. She has also since found love with Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd, the couple debuting their relationship in 2021.
