And the former MK Dons boss is looking to Swansea for some new recruits.

There is interest in central defenders Ben Cabango and Nathan Wood, though it is likely the Saints would only move for one of the pair.

Meanwhile, striker Joel Piroe is being tracked after scoring 19 goals for Swansea last season.

However, they face competition from fellow relegated side Leicester are also keen.

Left-back Ryan Manning, a free agent after his Swansea contract expired, is also a firm favourite of Martin’s.

Southampton face competition from Premier League sides Luton and Sheffield United, while Leeds are also in the market for a left-back.

Manning, 27, scored five goals and claimed 10 assists last season and made 88 appearances under Martin at Swansea.

The left-back could be a replacement for Romain Perraud, who could leave following relegation and has attracted interest from European clubs.
