Arsenal make ‘improved £41.5m transfer bid for ex-Man Utd target Jurrien Timber as star closes on £120k-a-week salary’

ARSENAL have reportedly launched an improved £41.5million bid for Jurrien Timber.

The Ajax star, 22, has emerged as a key target for Mikel Arteta this summer.

Timber was a major goal for rivals Manchester United last summer.

And his surprise appearance at their FA Cup final defeat sparked rumours Erik ten Hag was returning for his former star.

But Arsenal are now clear leaders to sign Timber, having already had a £30m offer rejected by Ajax.

And the Mail claims a fresh £41.5m bid has now been submitted.

Landing Timber would give Arteta quality depth across his entire back line, as well as defensive midfield.

The 15-time Holland international has already made 121 appearances for Ajax, leading them to two titles in the process.

And he is thought to have agreed personal terms with Arsenal on a long-term contract worth £120,000 a week.

The deal also fits in perfectly with Arteta’s vision of a world-class squad of youngsters.
