Drama has picked up a pace for several members of the clan, starting with Daniel Osbourne (portrayed by Rob Mallard).
Three years after losing his wife Sinead to cervical cancer, the Weatherfield High teacher was shocked to find out his current partner Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) could have a similar fate.
Overwhelmed, he first refuses to talk to the Rovers barmaid, arguing that he’s too weak to be of any support for her.
This prompts Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) to come up with a plan.
After telling Daisy he understands her annoyance at Daniel’s cowardice, he asks her to read the article he’s been working on.
Daisy’s heart is close to bursting when she reads about how she helped him love again after losing Sinead.
In later scenes, when he finds out that his article won’t be published after all, Daniel is encouraged by Daisy to get back into teaching.
This manages to convince Daniel he has found the perfect match.
Asking for her blessing, Daniel shows Jenny Connor the engagement he bought for Daisy and explains how he plans to surprise her.
However, the holiday season is off to a bad start when Daniel, Steve McDonald, Daisy and Tracy Barlow head into No.1 to realise all the presents have gone from under the tree.
Steve soon reports the burglary to the police.

But to make matters worse, Daniels tells Jenny the burglars took the engagement ring he was planning to propose with.
Speaking of Daniel and Daisy’s new crisis, actor Rob Mallard said: “It’s his worst nightmare that it would either happen to him or someone else that he cares about.”
“Then doubly worse this is someone that Bertie is growing closer to, a second chance of a mother figure for him and yet again this woman he loves might be struck down with cancer.”
But who could be responsible for his family’s burglary?
Is the culprit closer to home than anticipated?
