TEMPERATURES are set to stay in the mid 20s this week and that means more outdoor fun.
But it can be tricky staying cool when the sun is blazing.
ShutterstockWe have five tricks for keeping drinks cold at your next summer party[/caption]
Don’t sweat it — try these tricks for keeping drinks cold at your next do . . .
COOLER THAN EVER: Instead of splashing out on a special drinks cooler, make your own using a plastic tub, bin or whatever you have at home.
Fill it with ice and water and if you line the inside with foil, it should keep the drinks cold for longer.
Another tip is to keep any foil-padded packaging if you are sent something in the post.
The bigger envelopes are perfect as temporary coolers and great for picnics.
WINE NOT? No wine cooler? No problem.
Make your own by recycling a large, empty soft drink bottle. Cut it in half horizontally.
Put your bottle of wine inside it then fill the gap with half crushed ice and half water.
SALT SAVER: If using a cooler with a lid and packing it full of ice, add a cup of table salt.
This breaks down the ice and creates a brine solution.
This liquid has a lower freezing point than water and should cool your drinks more quickly.
AN ICE IDEA: Get creative with your ice cubes to keep drinks chilled.
Pick up some long ice moulds from Amazon for £5.99, fill with water and put in the freezer.
After 20 minutes, add a sprig of lavender or rosemary to the semi-frozen ice and return the mould to the freezer.
Once formed, these make chic ice-drink stirrers which are perfect for parties.
You can also reuse these moulds to make ice sticks that will fit through bottle tops.
FREEZE FRAME: Give your bash a floral twist by following a viral frozen-flower trend.
Fill water balloons and pop in a pretty flower from the garden.
Freeze the night prior to your event, then remove the rubber from your solid balloon, to reveal pretty frozen flower “rocks”.
Arrange around your bottles in a large ice bucket for a stunning display that doesn’t take much effort or cost.
