I’m plus-size – I was too scared to wear bikinis for years but now I confidently show off my tummy, I know it looks good

A PLUS-SIZE woman has opened up about how she battled body insecurities t for a long time — but finally overcame them.

Model and body-positive advocate Julia Berit didn’t always feel confident showing off her figure in swimwear, but now she’s doing it on TikTok.

Julia Berit was scared to wear two-piece swimsuits because she was insecure about her stomachTikTok

In one TikTok video, Julia wrote: “Me being too scared for YEARS to wear a bikini bc I don’t have a flat stomach.”

At first, she unconfidently and uncomfortably posed in a one-piece swimsuit.

Although more covered-up than a bikini, the swimsuit had a plunging neckline and a high-rise leg cut that showed off her curves.

Julia shyly turned to show her side profile and held her hand over her lower stomach before the video abruptly transitioned to her wearing a bikini.

“Learning that ALL tummies look good in bikinis,” she wrote.

Julia wore a blue ribbed strapless bikini top with a center tie closure. It was paired with a matching string bikini bottom.

As she showed off her stomach, she looked more energized by her newfound confidence and freedom.

“You look amazing,” someone commented, and another added: “Slay.”

“I love that for you. You look gorgeous,” one person wrote, as another echoed: “So beautiful in every way.”

In a similar TikTok video, Julia shared where her body insecurities stemmed from.

“Things the media taught us to hate about ourselves that I’m now loving,” she wrote.

She posted a montage of tabloids that shamed female celebrities’ bodies. The front covers had unflattering paparazzi photos and commented on women’s weight gain, cellulite, and “beach bodies.”

Then the video transitioned to Julia confidently posing in a white bikini set.

She showed off different parts of her body that she used to be insecure about, including her “soft tummy,” back rolls, and hip dips.

“POV: you’re not letting the media define how you feel about your body,” she wrote in the caption.

Someone perfectly understood Julia’s insecurities, writing: “I remember so vividly being like 12 & seeing the ‘best & worst bikini bodies’ issues in a grocery store… so bizarre that was the norm.”

Julia replied: “Right?????? Like ma’am I’m just trying to buy groceries not be bullied but thx guys.”

She continued to be praised for her beauty and body, with people writing: “GORGEOUS!” and: “YES THIS IS SO GOOD.”
