Horse racing tips: Templegate’s 4-1 NAP will roar home for billionaire owner on day three of Royal Ascot

TEMPLEGATE tackles day three of Royal Ascot confident of finding you some big winners.

Read on for our man’s top tips and back a horse by clicking their odds below.

ELDAR ELDAROV (4.20 Royal Ascot, nap)

He was a gutsy winner of the Queen’s Vase at last year’s Royal meeting en route to his brilliant St Leger win at Doncaster in September. That Classic success took it out of Roger Varian’s star so it was no shock to see him run poorly here in his season finale. Any worries about his wellbeing were put to bed with an excellent comeback in last month’s Yorkshire Cup where he ran on strongly over 1m6f to finish second. This longer distance should bring out the best in him and he handles fast and soft ground.

BURGLAR (3.05 Royal Ascot, nb)

He can take the spoils under Frankie Dettori. We haven’t seen a lot of the John and Thady Gosden three-year-old but he was impressive when scooting in at Redcar last month.

He stayed 1m2f well there and gives the impression that this longer distance will be ideal. The handicapper has been fair with an opening mark of 92 for this son of Cracksman.

TORITO (5.35 Royal Ascot, treble)

He looked a Group horse when winning a hot handicap at Epsom last time and can prove it here. He travelled smoothly on that tricky track and pulled right away from his rivals. That was just his third run and he can progress again today.

Templegate’s Royal Ascot day three race-by-race guide

2.30

ELITE STATUS can live up to his name by landing this red-hot contest.

Karl Burke has had a good season with his youngsters and this colt couldn’t have been more impressive when taking a Sandown Listed race by five lengths.

He was visually impressive and clocked a good time too. That was on fast ground but he won his maiden in the mud so it shouldn’t matter what the weather does.

American trainer Wesley Ward has won this twice and has a good chance with American Rascal.

He’s had just one run but scored by 10 lengths at Keeneland and has every chance of making the frame.

Noche Magica was nailed on the line in a Group 3 over six furlongs at The Curragh last month.

The winner ran well here on Tuesday and dropping back in distance looks a wise move.

His Majesty was a neck behind him that day and is another who looks open to lots of improvement.

He finished off strongly and will have solid claims if able to stick with the early pace.

The Fixer was a Listed winner in France 18 day ago when showing plenty of zip on the fast ground.

He is a strong traveller who could box on into the places.

Thunder Blue tanked along when landing a cosy maiden success at Goodwood last week.

This is a lot tougher but you would expect him to take a fair step forward.

Mon Na Slieve looked decent when winning at York and Kevin Ryan has been in the winners already this week.

Frankie rides American raider No Nay Mets who went from the front to win at Gulfstream in Florida and he could figure.

3.05

BURGLAR can take the spoils under Frankie Dettori.

Bertinelli took a big step forward on his handicap debut when winning in a big field at Newbury last time.

He is another who should show more for this stiffer stamina test and Aidan O’Brien has his horses in excellent form.

Tagabawa has been going well on the all-weather and had four lengths in hand at Kempton latest.

He was coming back from four months off there and saw out this distance with plenty left in the tank.

This is tougher by he can go close for William Buick and Charlie Appleby.

The Gosdens have another chance with Inquiring Minds who was given a quiet ride at Doncaster earlier this month.

He starts handicapping from what could be a low mark. He was behind Perfuse on Town Moor who showed a decent turn of foot over this distance.

Sir Michael Stoute is always respected in Royal Ascot handicaps and you would expect plenty of improvement.

Wonder Legend enjoyed soft ground when winning easily at Donny last time. He is a certain stayer but has to prove his liking for these quicker conditions.

Cloudbreaker was far from disgraced in a Newbury Listed contest last month.

He will appreciate this longer distance and is another to consider.

Gallerist has been winning as he likes in France and it’s interesting to see him make his handicap debut in this hot contest.

Connections clearly think he’s up to it. Land Legend went close at York when seeing out this distance and is another for the each-way shortlist.

3.40

AL ASIFAH looked an absolute superstar when winning a Listed race at Goodwood just 11 days ago.

Jim Crowley didn’t move a muscle as she ran all over her rivals before cruising to a near seven-length victory.

She’s a daughter of Frankel and has clearly inherited plenty of his class. She wasn’t stopping so there’s every chance of seeing out this longer trip.

Bluestocking was still very green when finishing a neck second in good company at Newbury.

She was coming back from eight months off there so will come on fitness-wise too.

Ralph Beckett’s filly is certain to take a big step forward.

Infinite Cosmos won her maiden nicely before a solid run in the Musidora at York behind Soul Sister last month.

She is a daughter of Sea The Stars so should relish this longer distance and she’s a contender for Sir Michael Stoute.

Luckin Brew showed promise last season and signed off the campaign with a solid second in a Pontefract Listed contest.

You would have liked her to have a prep run but she has plenty of talent so should figure.

Midnight Mile is another to show promise in the Musidora and there’s no Soul Sister to worry about here.

She looked in need of this step up in distance on the Knavesmire.

Maman Joon held her own when sent off a 50-1 shot for the Oaks at Epsom. She was all at sea on the camber and will be happier on this conventional track. T

hat was just her second run so there’s more to come.

Lumiere Rock went close in good company at Naas and is another who could nick a place.

4.20

ELDAR ELDAROV was a gutsy winner of the Queen’s Vase at last year’s Royal meeting en route to his briliant St Leger win at Doncaster in September.

Coltrane looks the main threat after his smooth comeback win in the Sagaro Stakes here in May.

He saw out 2m4f well when winning the Ascot Stakes at last year’s festival so there are no stamina worries.

This is his toughest assignment yet but he can give a good account of himself.

Courage Mon Ami is the potential springer in the pack.

He was only winning a handicap at Goodwood last month but he did it well and the Gosdens know what it takes to win thanks to their success with Stradivarius.

He can give Frankie a good spin.

Emily Dickinson won a Curragh Group 3 over two miles in October and returned with a good win in the mud at Navan.

It was a shock to see her turned over at Leopardstown last month but that was too bad to be true.

Aidan O’Brien is another with a fine record in this race so he’ll have her ready to go.

Subjectivist has run just twice since winning this two years ago and shaped well when last seen in Dubai.

We know he enjoys this challenge and he is a big price to hit the frame for Charlie Johnston.

Echoes In Rain is a high-class hurdler and Willie Mullins has had success this week. He won a hot handicap at last year’s Galway Festival so is no forlorn place hope.

5.00

SAXON KING could be the answer to this fiendishly difficult puzzle.

He is a regular winner who scored again at Chester last time with something left in the tank.

He likes this trip and handles any ground so can give another good account under a 5lb penalty.

You can make a case for most of the 30 runners and Docklands enjoyed himself when winning over course and distance last month.

The ground was tacky there but he’s won on the all-weather so won’t mind if it’s quicker.

Quantum Impact relished moving up to this mile when scoring at York. He looked the winner a long way out and Frankie takes over today with more surely to come.

Ramazan shaped well on the Knavesmire too over 7f last time and will improve for this longer distance.

Caracci had trouble in running at The Curragh last month and is better than that ninth place finish.

Starnberg was an easy winner at Nottingham over this distance 15 days ago and can figure despite a hike in the weights.

The Godolphin pair of One Nation and Highbank both showed enough in Dubai this spring to be competitive with slight preference for the former under William Buick.

Racingbreaks Ryder was good here last time and is another to consider.

5.35

TORITO looked a Group horse when winning a hot handicap at Epsom last time and can prove it here.

He travelled smoothly on that tricky track and pulled right away from his rivals.

That was just his third run and he can progress again today.

Stablemate Epictetus runs in the same colours and could be his biggest danger.

He was held in the French Derby last time but should find this a fair bit easier.

Drumroll was promoted to first in this grade at The Curragh last time after being hampered.

That was a good effort and he is another who should progress for Aidan O’Brien.

Caernarfon was an excellent third in the Oaks earlier this month when the trip seemed to suit.

Dropping in distance may not be ideal but she has quality and can hit the frame again.

Bold Act didn’t get much luck in running when second in a good Newbury handicap latest.

This trip suits and he can figure despite this stronger company.

The lightly-raced Exoplanet was a place behind him last time and there won’t be a lot between them again.

6.10

BARADAR got no luck in running when a still excellent sixth in the Victoria Cup over course and distance last time.

Hopefully Kevin Stott will get a clearer course as this five-year-old likes this trip and returns from the same handicap mark.

Biggles ran a mighty race when second in that Victoria Cup and Ryan Moore takes over today.

He goes on any ground and should be right there again.

Vafortino won last year’s Victoria Cup and was third in it this time.

It’s a shame jockey Benoit Sayette can’t claim any more but he will still be competitive.

Kingdom Come wasn’t entirely happy over a mile at Newbury last time so did well to finish a close-up fourth.

He is much better at this trip and trainer Clive Cox has a decent record on this straight track.

Croupier clocked a personal best when winning at York last time and will be dangerous if happy dropping back a furlong.

Spirit Of Light is another coming off a good Knavesmire effort.

He didn’t get a clear run so did well to finish fourth in a big field. He looks dangerous under James Doyle.

Unforgotten has done all his winning on the all-weather but he shaped nicely at Newbury and looks on a fair mark for Frankie and the Gosdens.

Montassib didn’t break sweat when winning at Newmarket over this trip last month and looks dangerous again.
