I tested McDonald’s new menu items – one was a real winner but I wouldn’t eat them all in summer

MCDONALD’S has dropped a host of new menu items and we’ve tested them to give our verdict.

The fast food giant changes its menu every few weeks in a bid to attract customers and June is no different.

The Sun’s Consumer Report James Flanders put two of the new menu items to the test

Items are often swapped for brand new ones, but McDonald’s can also bring back familiar faves – and it’s usually a win for fans.

Several new items hit the Maccies menu today, all of which are now available in all restaurants across the UK and Ireland.

The Sun’s Consumer Reporter James Flanders has put two on the new additions to the test.

Here’s our verdict.

Chicken Caesar wrap – 5/5

The new chicken Caesar wrap failed to disappointPeter Jordan

McDonald’s latest “Big Flavour Wrap” takes inspiration from the classic Caesar salad.

The new chicken Caesar wrap is filled with succulent chicken breast strips, crispy onions, rashers of bacon and lettuce.

But to finish off the fast-food chain’s take on the salad classic, the wrap is drenched in a traditional Caesar mayonnaise which didn’t disappoint.

To make things even better, customers have the usual option of picking between crispy or grilled chicken breast strips.

I’d always recommend the crispy chicken as it gives the wrap a satisfying crunch.

The new wrap costs £5.19 and is available for a limited time only

Double chocolate pie – 3/5

The double chocolate pie was tasty, but it’s probably the wrong time of year to bring it outPeter Jordan

We also got our hands on the new double chocolate pie.

At first, I wasn’t overly keen on trying this new item – as I’ve never been a fan of deep-fried chocolate.

But the pie has a crispy thin crust and the chocolate filling is extremely indulgent and I kind of loved it.

Those with a sweet tooth definitely won’t want to miss out on this sweet treat.

Indeed, the item is actually already a fast food hit in South Korea’s McDonald’s branches.

But I’m surprised that the fast food giant has brought this item to the menus while the UK continues to bask in the hot weather.

For me, the double chocolate pie would be better enjoyed in the colder months.

What other items have hit the menu?

The chain has introduced all-new mozzarella bites, with one portion costing £2.29 and a share box costing £6.29.

We’ve already tested the new Biscoff McFlurry which costs between £1.49 and £1.99 depending on the size.

It had the perfect amount of runny versus crunch and the Biscoff biscuit bits went down a treat.

Like with any McFlurry, the ice cream to sweet addition ratio could always be better, but we would buy it again.

Two more familiar items have also hit restaurants once again, but they won’t be here for long.

McDonald’s fans can once again get their hands Double Big Mac, which comes with or without bacon for £6.99.

The spicy siracha wrap, which costs £5.19, has also returned to the menus.

But the new McFlurry, Double Big Mac and spicy siracha wraps are only available until August 1.
