Our stunning beach is being ruined by beachgoer’s ‘disgusting’ habit – I’m horrified

A BEACH cleaner told how a Scots beauty spot is being ruined by a “disgusting” habit.

Stuart Dixon was horrified to discover more than 400 bags of dog poo lying in a ditch on Troon Beach last week.

The litter picker told of his frustration at the gross discovery and hit out at the person responsible for their selfish actions.

The 66-year-old told Ayrshire Live: “I feel a lot of emotions. One of them is disgust and there is a bit of anger there as well.

“People should just not be doing this.

“They just need to collect poo and put it in the bin provided when they walk out of the car park.

“To pick it up but then discard it in an unregistered bin is just raw stupidity.”

Stuart says the beach cleaners are concerned there is a mystery poo dumper on the loose.

The faeces was found dumped inside a yellow bucket and then placed in a ditch.

He added: “I don’t think it’s an overnight happening. The bags being used are a peculiar red colour that’s not as common with dog poo bags.

“I went down there on Thursday morning and the guilty party has retrieved the yellow bucket from some distance away and started it again.

“I put down at the tideline and we could collect it on our next pick but they have just seen it and put it back into their ditch in the dunes.”

Elsewhere, we told how furious residents say they are being forced to clean up people’s poo as beach-goers keep using their gardens as a toilet.

Homeowners at Portobello beach in Edinburgh have been left facing “awful scenes” – including beach revellers urinating and pooing in their gardens.

The SNP’s Tommy Sheppard, MP for Edinburgh East, has now written a letter to the council asking for portaloos to be placed at Portobello beach during the busiest months.
