Who is Kevin Stott?
Danish born Kevin Stott is from a horseracing family, his father is a former jockey who rode in races all around the world, and he then went on to train racehorses.
Growing up, Kevin wanted to become a footballer, having a trial at Tottenham when he was 15, but his small frame went against him.
Now he is at the top of his game, and has his girlfriend Megan Nicholls working as his agent.
Meanwhile, Meg, the daughter of champion National Hunt trainer Paul Nicholls, has always had an affiliation with horse racing.
She is a former jockey who rode Knappers Hill to victory in the Grade Two bumper at Aintree in 2021.
After a massive 110 career wins, Megan decided to retire at the age of 25 to focus on her media work.
She’s now a horse racing pundit for ITV Racing and Racing TV.
When did Kevin Stott and Megan Nicholls start dating?
The two met in Dubai while racing each other in the winter of 2019/2020.
They have even competed against each other, back in 2020, when Megan beat her boyfriend, Kevin, to claim her 95th career win in Wolverhampton.
Megan previously told the Daily Mail: “Kevin copes very well with my minor meltdowns, which happen nearly every week!
“He also lets me watch Keeping Up with the Kardashians, so is clearly very patient.
“Both dad and Kevin Ryan [another trainer] said that if we can survive lockdown together then we can get through anything.”
What has Kevin Stott said about Megan Nicholls?
In April 2023 Kevin praised his partner and agent Megan for helping him become Amo Racing’s number one jockey.
He had previously been with his Yorkshire trainer since he was 16, but made the switch to have Megan manage him instead.
Speaking to the Racing Post, he said: “I wanted to try something different when I went freelance, so when Meg decided to stop riding and said she was half thinking of becoming an agent, I thought we should give it a go,” he said.
“Weirdly, it works really well. I know how determined Meg is when it comes to work.
“When she decides she wants to do something, she will do it 100 per cent. She has the same mentality as her dad. She probably has even greater ambitions for me than I do.”
The couple’s ambitions for Stott’s career were certainly helped when Kia Joorabchian took him on as Amo Racing’s number one jockey in February.
“When they contacted me about the Amo job it was a huge thing for me,” said Stott.
“I never thought that within a few months of going freelance that sort of job offer would come along.
“We spoke for a good bit and then Kia asked me to go home and think about it – and whenever you have to sign a piece of paper there is plenty to think about. I had conversations with Megan, my dad and Megan’s dad, Paul. It was the right thing for me and it has come at the right time in my career.”
