WhatsApp adds new button that stops people spying on you – billions urged to press it today

WHATSAPP has launched a brand new feature that can stop you from being spied on.

The new tool lets you choose the exact level of privacy you want – keeping you safe from prying eyes.

All messages on WhatsApp are encrypted, meaning they’re jumbled in transit.

But that doesn’t mean everything you do is totally secure: you’ll have a backlog of messages that aren’t locked away, your online status may be shared with others, and your account may not be as secure as you’d like.

Now WhatsApp is adding a new tool called Privacy Check-Up that guides you through all of the privacy settings in the app.

“Protecting the privacy of your messages remains the driving force behind what we’re building at WhatsApp,” WhatsApp said.

“While End-to-end encryption is the foundation to ensure your calls and messages are secure, we continue to add more layers of privacy on top.

“Including the recently launched Chat Lock to protect sensitive chats behind a password, Disappearing Messages that vanish, screenshot blocking for View Once, and the ability to keep your online presence private.

“Securing your private communication is important because we know people need a safe place to communicate.”

With the new tool, you’ll be able to choose the right level of protection for your needs.

Simply go to your Privacy settings in the app and choose Start Check-Up.

This will take you through “multiple privacy layers” to keep your texts, calls and personal info safe.

Bonus update

WhatsApp is also adding an additional feature called Silence Unknown Callers.

It’ll prevent you from being bothered by spam calls.

“Silence Unknown Callers is designed to give you more privacy and control of your incoming calls,” WhatsApp said.

“It helps to automatically screen out spam, scams, and calls from unknown people for increased protection.

“These calls will not ring on your phone, but will be visible in your Call list, in case it turns out to be someone important.”

The new features are rolling out now, so check your app for the latest updates.
