What is the Royal Procession at Royal Ascot 2023?
The Royal Procession is a tradition at Royal Ascot that has been around since 1825.
It was started by King George IV who led four other carriages with members of the Royal party up the Straight Mile and then paraded in front of spectators before taking his position to watch.
The carriages are known as Ascot Landaus and seat four people.
During the Royal Procession, the National Anthem is played and the Royal Standard is raised.
Historically, the Royal Procession takes place at 2pm on each of the five days of Royal Ascot.
It has yet to be confirmed if King Charles III will be in attendance for all five days of Royal Ascot to lead the Royal Procession on each day.
When is Royal Ascot 2023?
Royal Ascot is scheduled to get underway on Tuesday, June 20 before concluding on Saturday, June 24.
There are seven thrilling races scheduled for each day with a start time of 2:30pm BST.
While the final races of the day commence from 6:10pm BST.
Ascot Racecourse is located in Ascot, Berkshire and can host approximately 70,000 spectators.
