I’m an SPFL striker but everyone mistakes me for Lewis Capaldi – I wish I could sing like him rather than score goals

HE’S the deadly SPFL striker who also happens to be a dead ringer for Lewis Capaldi.

And Bonnyrigg Rose frontman Keiran McGachie admits he’s FLATTERED by the comparison.

The 31-year-old was first compared to the Someone Like You singer when Rose played Dundee in the Scottish Cup back in 2021.

Because of Covid regulations the two sides entered the New Dundas Park pitch from different ends.

And when McGachie and Rose came out social media lit up with the comparison.

One post stating: “Lewis Capaldi still kicking a baw” racked up over 6,000 likes and retweets.

And PE teacher McGachie, speaking in this Sunday’s SunSport AtoZ admits even HE sees the likeness.

He said: “Ha! That was something that started when we played Dundee in the Scottish Cup a few years ago!

“I remember the game was on TV and a few people commented afterwards that there was a similarity there and I think you guys at The Scottish Sun did something about it online as well.

“What can I say? He’s a good looking guy, is Lewis! He’s a local boy who made good – just like me!

“There’s worse people to be compared to, I guess.

“I just wish I could write songs and sing like him as opposed to scoring tap-ins from a couple of yards out.

“It’s a fair cop, I’ve slaughtered enough people in this AtoZ so it’s only fair if I get some stick back!”

McGachie is a firm fans’ favourite at the League Two outfit having scored over 100 goals in over 250 games.

And in an entertaining chat with SunSport he has already confessed to throwing up in full club gear when Rose played Cowdenbeath in the Pyramid Play-Offs.

He also claimed his scariest experience was stepping on the scales one pre-season to find he was 108kg.

But when it comes to off-duty dinners it would appear Capaldi’s own brand of pizzas are off the menu.

He said: “When it comes to food Rose fans know enough about my diet to know I’m ALWAYS off duty.

“So it is either an Indian from Memories of India in Gorebridge or I love the huge Costco ready made meals, the enchiladas or the quesadillas.”
