He’s currently a Member of Parliament for West Suffolk but will quit for new “exciting opportunities”.

Taking to Twitter, Matt said: “I look forward to exploring new ways to communicate with people of all ages and from all backgrounds.”

The 44-year-old sparked controversy when he revealed he was participating on this year’s series of I’m A Celebrity.

The former Conservative MP finished in third place as football Jill Scott became the new Queen of the Jungle.

And now with Matt walking away from politics, viewers of the ITV reality show are convinced he’ll do more TV programmes.

“Matt hancock is only standing down because hes due to do more tv programmes @thismorning like SAS…he likes the limelight,” said one person.

Another posted: “Your new ways to communicate, I presume, involve you appearing in more TV shows where you are paid ridiculous amounts of money.”

“No shame when he’s touting for more embarrassing TV work either,” said a third viewer.

A fourth said: “Best wishes for the future Matt. You were brilliant in the jungle. Would love to see you more on TV. Life’s too short. You deserve happiness.”

However, an ally close to Hancock has said he will not be taking part in anymore reality TV programmes.

“There are lots of irons in the fire, but Matt will now look to use his public profile to highlight the serious issues he cares about – such as dyslexia.

“While Matt’s time in the jungle was a success, he won’t be doing any more reality TV,” they said.
