Matt Damon’s representative slams Donald Trump after unwitting cameo in latest campaign video

Matt Damon is not happy with Donald Trump.

Over the weekend, the former President of the United States used Damon’s monologue from the movie Air in a 2024 presidential fundraising video shared to his Truth Social app – a move Damon’s representative has lashed.

”We had no foreknowledge of, did not consent to and do not endorse or approve any footage or audio from Air being repurposed by the Trump campaign as a political advertisement,” a spokesperson for Damon, 52, and Ben Affleck‘s production company said.

The spokesperson told Axios the duo did not give their consent to Trump, 76, using the Air snippet for his two-minute-long campaign video, which included a link asking for monetary donations.

Per the New York Post, the Air snippet included a line Damon, who played Nike executive Sonny Vaccaro in the 50-year-old Affleck-produced film, said while his character was trying to entice NBA star Michael Jordan to promote a new sneaker line.

“Everyone will be forgotten as soon as our time here is up, except for you,” Damon says in the clip.

“You’re going to be remembered forever because some things are eternal, and your story is gonna make us fight and never give up!”

It’s one of many campaign donation pleas Trump has made in recent days, with the former president – who was charged on Friday in Miami’s federal court with unlawfully keeping classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate after departing the White House – reportedly sending out a series of email blasts, through his 2024 campaign fund, in an attempt to secure donations from his supporters.

Trump’s indictment is the second he’s faced since leaving the high office, and marks the first time in United States history a former president has had federal charges laid against him.

It was in April that Trump pled not guilty to 34 felony counts, brought by Alvin Bragg, Manhattan’s District Attorney, in relation to alleged hush money payments made to Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election.
