‘Seinfeld’ alum Pat Cooper dies aged 93

Comedian and actor Pat Cooper has died peacefully in his Las Vegas home at the age of 93.

The star was well known for his regular appearances on The Howard Stern Show, as well as his more brief features in other popular shows like Seinfeld and Charlie’s Angels.

Cooper’s producer Steve Garrin confirmed the star’s death.

“There was nobody like Pat Cooper, who burned every bridge that he went over,” Garrin told Fox News Digital. “I put out a lot of the fires!”

“He was one man who was honest,” he added. “You could depend on him. You could trust him.”

The beloved comic’s portfolio included starring alongside Robert De Niro in 1999 film Analyze This, as well as its sequel Analyze That, and a whole heap of stand-up comedy gigs.

The Brooklyn-born comic shot to fame after becoming the opening act for Frank Sinatra at the Sands in Las Vegas.

Born Pasquale Caputo, Cooper’s brazen sense of humour and jokes often linked to his Italian-American background made him popular amongst crowds.

The comedian was also known to be a roast-master at the Friars Club, where comedians attend to throw their best jokes at each other.

His reputation at the Friar’s Club obviously made the rounds of Hollywood ears as it landed the star in a 1996 Seinfeld episode titled The Friar’s Club in which he portrayed himself.

Garrin recalled how Cooper’s Seinfeld debut came to be.

I was sitting at his table in his kitchen and the phone rings, and it’s Larry David,” he said. “He picks up the phone, and he hangs it up. I go, ‘What was that?’ He says, ‘Some nut.’ The phone rings again, and he picks it up, and he hangs it up.

“I said, ‘What’s going on with you?’ and he goes, ‘Some guy says he’s Larry David,’ and I said, ‘Well, maybe if he calls again, see if it is.'”

Cooper is survived by his wife, Emily Conner, two daughters and one son.
