I’ve got a four-month-old & get yelled at for my relaxed ‘rules’, including midnight bedtimes and NO Christmas presents

SHE does her own thing when it comes to motherhood, and has come up with her own set of relaxed “rules”.

But Annabel often finds that not everyone agrees with her arguably controversial parenting choices – meaning that she’s often “yelled at”.

And while it’s the tot’s first Christmas, he won’t be getting any presents this yearTikTok/@annabelmaud

“Three controversial things I do with my four-month-old baby, because apparently I’m in the mood to get yelled at,” Annabel began a video on her TikTok page.

First on the list is that she lets her son go to bed at “midnight, one in the morning”.

“We’ve never done scheduled naps for my baby” she said. “Whenever he’s tired, he goes for a sleep.

“At night we co-sleep, so he goes to sleep when we go to sleep, which is like 12, one, because we watch Netflix.

“If he’s tired before that, which he usually is, he’ll have a sleep on us – on the sofa watching TV, on Julius’ chest or in my arms and he’ll sleep for as long as he wants.

“And then when we go to bed at midnight, one ish, then we just take him into bed with us.”

He also doesn’t have a crib, and sleeps in his pram when he naps during the day.

Secondly, Annabel isn’t going to be buying any Christmas presents for her son this year.

“Two – no Christmas presents, this year anyway,” she said.

“He’ll be five months old.

“Personally I love Christmas, it’s the best time of the year, we got our tree in mid November, he’s going to be wearing a Christmassy outfit – it’s all ready – and I’ve got matching ones.

“The kitchen looks like an elf has puked all over it, he has a bauble in his play gym… But I’m not going to buy him Christmas presents to open.”

She explained that her reasoning for no presents is because they can’t afford it, and also because he won’t remember it.

And lastly on Annabel’s list, she’s “leaving him for three whole nights next week with his dad while I leave the country”.

Revealing she’s had a job come up in New York that was too good an opportunity to turn down, she said she feels more than confident in leaving her son with his dad.

But that doesn’t make being away from him any easier, as she said she expects it to be “awful and horrible”.

In preparation, Annabel has been “pumping like a maniac” to ensure their freezer is well stocked with her breast milk while she’s away.
