The European hotspot which is perfect for day trips – and it costs just £25 to get there

A TRAVELLER has revealed on TikTok how she visited a European city for a “mini holiday” for just £25 return – without taking a flight.

The nifty travel hack involves driving from London to the Eurotunnel in Folkstone and then on to Bruges, which takes around three hours in total.

A woman has revealed how to do a day trip to Europe

Since it’s not a big city, Bruges is the perfect picturesque location for a quick day trip

The Tiktoker, who goes by the name @queengrabe, recalls how she and six other friends paid just £15 each to travel on the Eurotunnel Le Shuttle train.

They then contributed £10 each towards petrol for the journeys on either side.

The Le Shuttle Eurotunnel in Folkstone is around a 1.5-hour drive from London, while the train journey over the Channel is just 30 minutes and then it’s around a one-hour drive from Calais to Bruges.

The TikToker also explains how parking, once they arrived in Bruges, was “super easy” and cost just €6 in a car park that was a 15-minute walk from the central square.

Since it’s not a big city, Bruges is the perfect picturesque location for a quick day trip.

It’s easy to walk around in less than a day and explore the city’s cobblestone streets while admiring the architecture.

Markt, the bustling central plaza, is filled with restaurants and a must-see local church.

You’ll also have plenty of time to visit the local stores selling souvenirs and delicacies, as well as museums showcasing amazing Flemish and Renaissance works of art. And not to mention waffles and chocolate, which Bruges is renowned for.

“We did a boat tour and it was only €12 – I think it’s a really nice way to see the city, especially because none of us had ever been to Bruges before,” the TikTok traveller said.

However, you might not find the same deal yourself if looking to book in the summertime.

Over the next three months, the Sun Online found the cheapest return from Folkstone to Calais on the Eurotunnel was approximately £140 return for one vehicle.

This works out to around £26 per person for group of five people were to travel in the same car.

That would still make it a cheap getaway without the hassle of arriving early at the airport, going through security and waiting in the departures lounge.
