Sellers became owner of the 161 DB4GT model after falling in love with it whilst filming the crime caper movie in London.
The impressive vehicle reaches speeds of 150mph and was used as ‘Pearly Gates’ ( Sellers) getaway car during police chase scenes.
The Britain-built motor has been described as one of the fastest cars of its time, with makers comparing it to the Ferrari 250 GT.
Its spectacular features range from a powerful engine delivering 300bhp to a weight-saving magnesium-alloy bodywork.
The model is one of just 75 built and was one of just three fitted with rear seats – which have been sat on by Lionel Jefferies ( Pearly’s accomplice).
Although Sellers got behind the wheels for the camera, he was switched out with a stunt driver for the high-speed sequences.
The actor, who sadly died aged 54 in 1980, is widely remembered for his huge car collection, which spanned to around 120 cars.
Goon Show comic Spike Milligan labelled them “metal underwear” as Seller changed his cars so often.
The DB4GT was originally designed to race and claimed a string of victories in national and international track events.
Consultant James Knight, from auction company Bonham, commented: “It’s probably Aston Martin’s finest road car – the ultimate 1960s’ GT. It is in great condition and has a wonderful history.”
