Shocking moment Audi driver parks on a pedestrian crossing so he can go shopping in a nearby Tesco

THIS is the shocking moment a selfish driver parks on a pedestrian crossing so he can go shopping at a nearby Tesco.

The grey Audi was spotted by residents on Deansgate, one of the main routes through central Manchester, on May 28.

The man is seen sauntering back to his car which is parked on a pedestrian crossingMEN

A woman has to walk in the road to avoid the car on the crossingMEN

Footage show the car parked sideways on the road, stopped on a pedestrian crossing and bike lane.

Just a few seconds later, a man is seen strolling towards the car with what appears to be a drink in his hand.

As the man gets in the car, he gestures to a blue car just a few feet away.

Following the gesture, the blue seems to make a u-turn in what is a one-way road, driving the wrong way before the pair make off in the same direction.

The short video was taken by a local resident who said there had been some confusion in that part of Deansgate, in the centre of the city, which shares a junction with Blackfriars Street and St Mary’s Gate after a bus gate had been installed.

The resident, who wanted to remain anonymous told the Manchester Evening News: “Since the new bus gate has been put in a lot of people go to drive down Deansgate, clock the sign and then turn around or reverse back out.

“So we thought that’s what he was doing at first and then kind of noticed he’s not actually moving.

“And then two lads got out of the car and went into Tesco, and that’s when I start taking the video.

“There was another car that had driven up Deansgate and halfway through the video clip you see him coming back the other way, it’s just one way now.

“We see a lot of people either not see or ignore the bus gate sign, but you see a lot of people who get to them and then spot them.

“This video is a quite an extreme case because you can see he’s blocking pedestrians and cyclists.”

It comes after drivers were warned they could face a £800 bill for simply parking under a tree.

A massive swarm of tiny insects is set to invade the UK this summer, ruining cars with their micro-droppings.

Elsewhere, a woman was stunned to find an angry note on her car despite being “considerate” when she parks up.

Lauren Ball found the fiery note on her windscreen after leaving her motor on a side road near her home in Denton, Greater Manchester.

Locals in Handsworth, Birmingham, were also left fuming after a resident padlocked a wheelie bin to the road to save a parking spot.

Suhad Miah blasted the resident’s “selfish” attempt to keep the spot free, while other local people have called the cheeky bin trick absolute “genius”.
