ARSENAL fans reckon they have worked out Kieran Tierney’s future plans.
The Scotland defender has been linked with a move away from the Emirates for much of the season after falling down the pecking order.
Kieran Tierney’s time at Arsenal may be up going by this full-time gesture
He remains popular with the Gunners’ faithful however, having once been touted as a potential future captain.
But injury issues and a change to the way Arsenal play under Mikel Arteta has seen him become more of a rotational option this season, with Oleksandr Zinchenko becoming the manager’s first-choice left-back.
Newcastle United are rumoured to be interested in acquiring the 25-year-old defender and more recently, Aston Villa have been linked with the former Celtic star.
At the end of Arsenal’s final match of the Premier League season against Wolves, footage surfaced of Tierney walking around the pitch on his own taking in applause from the fans.
The player is seen clapping as supporters chanted “There’s only one Kieran Tierney”.
Now fans are seeing it as the clearest indication yet that Tierney’s time is up in North London.
One opined: “Kieran Tierney is gonna go. Sadly.”
“It looks like he is hanging back to take it in for the last time,” remarked another.
“Walking on his own isn’t a good sign,” pointed out one fan.
“That looks like a farewell to me,” replied another.
While this supporter observed: “Kieran Tierney taking applause. Seems like the end.”
Another Gooner reckoned he saw one of Tierney’s teammates confirm their suspicions too.
He wrote: “I’m sure I saw Emile Smith-Rowe on the big screen pointing at KT mouthing he’s leaving.”
Other fans were critical of the club for allowing Tierney to leave.
One said: “The disrespect Tierney gets from this club is shambolic. Man City want him btw. If Kieran Tierney goes to City, he’ll become one of the best left-backs in the world. People don’t know how good this guy is.
Another said: “In 123 outings for Arsenal, Kieran Tierney never given less than 100%, and was a bright spark for fans during dark times. The project has moved past him, but he is a top player and one who deserves a huge amount of respect for what he gave the club. Proper professional.
“Tierney is a very important player. Selling him will be a mistake,” asserted another fan.
While a bittersweet comment read: “Finally, my man getting the appreciation he deserves!”
But some supporters are still holding hope that Tierney won’t be sold.
One said: “I really hope he stays. His approach and attitude have elevated him to favourite player status alongside Xhaka. Hoping that Arteta can coach that Zinchenko role into him, because when it comes to actually defending, I’ve got more faith in Tierney than Zinchenko.”
Another commented: “Hope he stays we should be adding to squad quality and quantity!”
While this supporter wrote: “Please stay Tierney ”
