I flew to Spain for the day – it cost me just £20 and I even nabbed a free glass of wine

A WOMAN has revealed how spent just £20 travelling to Majorca for the day – and even had time for an afternoon at the beach.

Mel, 25, took herself to Spain for one day as a birthday treat because it was cheaper than a train ticket to visit her family.

Her birthday day out was cheaper than getting a train back home in the UK

She shared her cheeky trip on her TikTok account.

Mel booked a return ticket from London Stansted to Majorca with Ryanair at a cost of £40.

In the footage, she can be seen wandering through Majorca doing some souvenir shopping as well as dining out at a restaurant and spending the afternoon relaxing at the beach.

She said: “I took myself on a day trip to Palma de Majorca from London to celebrate my birthday.

“I had to get up stupidly early in the morning to make my 7am flight. I was so so tired but the excitement was keeping me awake.”

When she arrived at London Stansted, she had breakfast at Wetherspoons before boarding her plane.

She added: “Before I knew it I was in Majorca. I’ve never been to Majorca before so I just had a little walk around in the city.

“Of course, I had to do a bit of souvenir shopping and get a fridge magnet.”

“The best part of the day was when I went for a walk down to the beach.

“I wasn’t a big fan of the seagulls that were circling above me but other than that the beach was so nice and relaxing and I had a nice little nap.

“Before long, I felt like it was time to go and find somewhere to have a drink.

“I found a nice little bar and had a glass of cava, which the group of Americans kindly paid for after I let it slip that it was my birthday.”

She then ate a ham sandwich and bought herself an ice cream before returning to the airport.

Mel finished by saying: “I had a great day, I would definitely do it again.”

In the video, she admitted that her day trip may seem “silly” but her return flights only cost her £40 – cheaper than a train journey in the UK.

She also noted that there were no delays with her flights, which meant she didn’t spend the day sitting on the tarmac at the airport.

Mel added: “I was convinced I was going to miss my flight, get stuck in Majorca, or I’d bump into some not very nice people but generally speaking it actually felt really really safe.”

The video has had over 2,000 views with many users congratulating Mel on her birthday and her ambitious day out.

While it may seem like an odd thing to do, this isn’t the first time someone has flown from the UK to Europe for a day trip either.

Earlier this year, a British woman revealed how she spent just £23 flying to Lanzarote for the day – and even fit in some cocktails on the beach.

The mum travelled to Lanzarote thanks to the cheap Ryanair flights, spending nine hours exploring the Spanish island.

She also went on another short trip, flying to Ibiza for the day with six other mums for just £34.
