McVities brings back iconic discontinued favourite and fans are going wild

MCVITIES has brought an iconic discontinued snack back to supermarket aisles.

Happy Faces – which were axed around 2015 – have been spotted on Asda shelves again with one fan excitedly sharing to Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK.

The biscuits, which have jam and cream in the middle complete with a smiley face on top, cost £1 per pack.

The fan who spotted them posted a picture to Facebook, captioning it: “There back!!! ASDA £1”

Others in the comments were equally enthusiastic, with one responding: “Love these biscuits

Another wrote: “I need these!!!”

And one tagged a friend, putting: “look!!! Omg”

A spokesperson at McVities confirmed: “We are excited to say that nostalgic favourites McVitie’s BN Happy Faces are back in stores for fans to enjoy.

“They are currently available at Asda but will be rolled out to other stores in the near future, so keep your eyes out!”

We’ve asked McVities whether the biscuits are permanently back or if they’re returning for a limited time only, and we’ll update this story when we know more.

Keep in mind these may be wildly popular and sell out quickly, so it’s best to call up first to make sure they’re in stock at your local branch.

To find your nearest Asda, search using the locator tool on its website.

We couldn’t spot the biscuits online so they may not be available there just yet.

However, you can still shop more items from the McVities BN brand online if you’d like more options.

These include McVitie’s Mini BN chocolate, vanilla or strawberry biscuits – each £1.25 per 175g – and packs of five mini rolls for £1.

The BN brand largely returned last year after being discontinued in the mid 2010s, but it’s only now that McVities has re-introduced the nostalgic Happy Faces.

Just don’t forget about added delivery costs if you’re ordering home.

You should also shop around in case another supermarket brings the biscuits back for a cheaper price – you wouldn’t want to miss a bargain.

You can search for Happy Faces using tools like Google Shopping or Trolley.co.uk – they’ll flag whenever a supermarket starts selling them, and for how much.

But Happy Faces aren’t the only iconic snack making a return.

Earlier this year, sales of Arctic Rolls rose by 143%, according to online retailer Ocado.

Shoppers can get the orginal made by Birds Eye for as little as £2 from Waitrose.

But you can also pick up supermarket own-brand versions for less.

Sales originally melted away in the 90s and Birds Eye, the manufacturer of the dessert, stopped producing it, but it was brought back in 2008.

Elsewhere, Heinz brought back its controversial baked beans pizza last year.

After disappearing from supermarkets in 2003, the £3 frozen ready meal is set to return to Iceland stores from November 14.

Before that, John Lewis brought back it’s Quality Street pick ‘n’ mix stands to customer fanfare.

Plus, Greggs also brought back its famous Festive Bakes last Christmas.
