Conor McGregor called out by UFC’s record KO artist Matt Brown after making bold claim on Twitter

CONOR MCGREGOR has been called out by UFC’s KO king Matt Brown following an ambitious prediction on Twitter.

The Notorious, 34, is expected to make his return to the ring later this year against Michael Chandler.

It will be his first bout since breaking his leg in a defeat to Dustin Poirier nearly two years ago.

McGregor, a former two-weight world champion, has 10 wins in the UFC, eight of which have come via knockout.

American welterweight Brown, 42, holds the KO record with the MMA organisation at 14 – a mark he shares with heavyweight Derrick Lewis.

But McGregor claimed on social media on Sunday that he plans to eclipse that feat.

Speaking on Twitter, he said: “Matt Brown, at 42 years of age, now holds the joint highest KO’s inside the UFC with 13KO’s.

“Him and ‘The Beast’ Lewis are tied. I hold 8 KO’s inside the UFC currently, at 34 years of age.

“I’m getting this record.”

Brown, who secured his 14th KO in the UFC over the weekend with a stoppage win over Court McGee, simply replied: “I’ll fight you for it .”

He then goaded McGregor further on Sunday with a provocative post.

In response to the Irishman’s original tweet, the US fighter added: “Happy Mother’s Day Conor.”

A date for McGregor’s eagerly-anticipated clash with Chandler has yet to be announced.

But footage of Notorious SHOVING the American has been released ahead of the return of The Ultimate Fighter.

The lightweights coached opposite one another on season 31 of the long-running reality TV show – which was filmed in Las Vegas earlier this year.
