The Essex seaside resort enjoys 42 per cent of the year in sunlight, while it has just 527mm of rain a year, making it the driest seaside resort in the country.
During the month of May, Southend can expect rain for just over seven days, the fifth lowest of anywhere, making it the perfect spot to spend the bank holiday weekends.
Southend-on-Sea became a city earlier this year, which is also home to the longest pleasure pier in the world.
Often known as just Southend, it became the UK’s 70th city in honour of Sir David Amess, the MP who was killed last year.
The city became a popular seaside holiday hotspot back in the 19th century after a visit from then-princess Caroline of Brunswick – King George IV’s wife.
Southend is also home to Adventure Island theme park, which is free to enter and has 36 rides.
Films including Wonder Woman, James Bond and The Queen have all been filmed at Southend Airport too.
It’s home to so very famous people too – Dame Helen Mirren was born in Southend, along Game of Thrones actress Nathalie Emmanuel, Comedian Russel Kane and Jack Monroe.
If you fancy staying, there are summer breaks for £65.
Also in the top 3 for more sun and no rain was Ipswich and Margate, which has been named as one of the trendiest places to live in the UK.
