Man Utd legend Gary Neville predicts Arsenal and Chelsea transfer target Declan Rice’s next club leaving fans shocked

GARY NEVILLE reckons Declan Rice would join Arsenal rather than Chelsea.

But the Manchester United legend thinks the West Ham captain, 24, is more likely to stay put at the London Stadium.

Rice, who scored his fourth goal of the season in the thumping 4-0 win at Bournemouth, has been linked with a move away when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

And the tussle appears to be between Arsenal and Chelsea – although United have also been long-term admirers and Newcastle could try and swoop.

But one fan asked Neville during a Q&A on Twitter where he thinks Rice will go.

And the former right-back said: “Stay West Ham more than likely.

“However if he leaves Arsenal seem favourites!”

But the Sky Sports pundit’s comments got plenty of Hammers supporters very excited – and a few Gunners fans worried.

Arsenal are virtually guaranteed to offer Champions League football at the Emirates next season and have identified midfielder Rice as their No1 transfer target.

Chelsea, though, are set to miss out on Europe as they sit 11th in the table.

Relegation-threatened West Ham, however, could be in the Europa League again if they win the Conference League.

Arsenal fans are convinced their players have been playing the long game to bring Rice to North London.

English stars Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramsdale gave him particular attention in the recent Three Lions camp.

And when the Gunners drew 2-2 at West Ham last weekend, captain Martin Odegaard was spotting signing a shirt for Rice.

West Ham are said to be eyeing up Kalvin Phillips or Conor Gallagher as possible replacements should they lose their academy graduate.
