We’ve converted our helicopter into a custom motorhome – it’s spectacular and only took us a few months to build

A COUPLE has converted a helicopter into a custom motorhome – and it only took them a few months to build it.

Blake Morris and his wife, Maggie Morton, both former US Coast Guard pilots, bought the helicopter on Facebook Marketplace and decided to turn it into a camper complete with a kitchen and toilet.

Morris and Morton built a full kitchen with a fridge, toilet, sink and bedroom and even converted the helicopter’s circuit panels into storage unitsINSTAGRAM

The couple revealed that it took them over 900 hours of work, but they were pleased with the result.

Morris first spotted the SA 330 J Puma Helicopter on Facebook, and the first thing they did was replace the tail at the back with a vertical window to give the interior more light.

He then built the kitchen that includes a fridge, a toilet and a bedroom.

The helicopter also has a lounge area with a TV, a coffee table and enough space for a couch or an extra bed.

Morris said to Times Now News: “It went to the German military police first, then it got bought from there and used in Afghanistan with U.S. troops for a few years, then in came here in about 2011 back in the States.

“I asked Maggie, and luckily, she was very supportive. I was expecting her to say I was crazy, but she actually said that’s a great idea.

“Outdoor speakers, outdoor TV hook up, cable hook up… we’re not roughing it. The TV swings around so you can watch that in bed or when you’re making food in the kitchen.”

Users were blown away after watching the conversion.

One said: “Wow, great minds come up with these great ideas. I’m speechless, and yet I love a good and unique caravan or whatever people call it over the world.”

Another said: “That looks awesome. I would love to project build something similar to this for sure.”

A third pointed out: “That’s awesome; I’d love to convert an old helicopter into an RV.”

This comes after a couple converted a bus into a luxury motorhome with a 12-seater table and its own music studio.

Plus, a woman converted an old school bus into a luxury motorhome for less than £20,000 and lived in it full-time.
