CONSTITUTION HILL’S half-brother left punters speechless with this scintillating debut run.
Land Genie, who is trained by Jonjo O’Neill, bolted up in a bumper at Huntingdon last Sunday.
Sent off 9-4 and ridden by Jonjo Jr, Land Genie, is out of Queen Of The Stage, Constitution Hill’s mum.
Land Genie was shaken up about four furlongs out and showed an electric turn of foot to overtake leader Man Of My Dreams with around 100 yards to go.
He won snugly in the end over the 2m trip, picking up just over a couple of grand for owner T C McKeever.
Land Genie is only a half-brother to Constitution Hill because they have a different dad.
Nicky Henderson’s all-conquering superstar is by Blue Bresil, while Land Genie’s dad is Flemensfirth.
While it would be expecting a lot for Land Genie to get anywhere near his half-bro, punters were still marking him down as one for the future.
Commenting on his debut, one wrote: “Most impressive!”
Another said: “Wow. Speed runs in the family.”
One Twitter user posted: “Some turn of foot that.”
While another comment read: “Land Genie. Remember the name.”
Land Genie was bought for just over £50,000 at the Goffs Landrover sale in June 2021.
And, really, perhaps the difference in price tells the story of what is expected from the two.
Constitution Hill, who has won more than £650,000 with seven wins from seven runs, was bought for £120,000 a month before.
