Quickest Chevrolet Corvette ever to be built sells at charity auction for an eye-watering amount

THE QUICKEST Chevrolet Corvette ever to be built has been sold at auction for an eye-watering price.

The 2024 Chevrolet E-Ray Hybrid was sold for £885,137 at the Barret-Jackson Palm Beach auction in South Florida.

The money was given to a charity called DonorsChoose which provides resources for teachers and funding for schools in poor neighbourhoods.

The winning bid was by Rick Hendrick, the chairman and CEO of Hendricks Automotive Group and owner of the NASCAR team Hendrick Motorsport.

The E-Ray Hybrid comes with a 6.2-litre V8 in the middle and an electric motor at the front, producing a total of 655bhp.

Chevrolet claims the the million-dollar motor will hit 60mph in just 2.5 seconds, using an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Steve Majoros, chief marketing officer of Chevrolet, said, “General Motors and Chevrolet are proud to join DonorsChoose on its mission of combatting inequality in school funding by providing underserved communities with the resources needed for quality education.

“The Corvette E-Ray is a special product for Chevrolet, and we are honoured that the proceeds from the sale of VIN 001 will aid this organization in supporting students and teachers around the nation.”

This comes after a classic Ford Capri in ‘time warp condition’ has been sold at auction for an eye-watering price.
