All Ring doorbell owners warned of three simple mistakes that could result in your account being BANNED

RING is the most popular smart doorbell around – but like anything there are rules to follow.

Users of the device may not realise that their account could be terminated – aka banned – if they breach the terms and conditions.

Make sure you don’t fall foul of the rulesAmazon

While some are obvious offences, others could be mere mistakes some of you are making already…

Letting someone else log into your account as you

Ring doesn’t want you sharing your account password with family or friends.

The firm’s rules say this “jeopardizes the security of your Ring LLC account”.

If you want to give someone access to your Ring devices, it’s best to set them up as a Shared User with their own account.

Using a fake name

When signing up to Ring you may be tempted to use an alias.

But it’s best not to, as this could land you in hot water.

According to Ring’s rules: “You promise to provide us with accurate, complete, and updated registration information about yourself.

“You may not select as your User ID a name that you don’t have the right to use, or another person’s name with the intent to impersonate that person.”

Recording areas not on your property

You have to be very careful about what you record with your Ring doorbell.

This is a legal matter, not just something the firm has come up with.

A man was previously fined £100,000 for allegedly breaching his neighbour’s privacy with a Ring doorbell.

Ring’s rules state that you must comply with “any laws or regulations” that require “visual and/or audio recordings be installed at such an angle that it does not take any recordings beyond the boundary of your property (including public pavements or roads).”

The company continues: “If your use of the Services or any Products is prohibited by applicable laws, then you aren’t authorized to use the Services or Products.

“We can’t and won’t be responsible for your using the Services or any Products in a way that breaks the law.”
