An emergency aircraft recovery incident was declared at Dublin Airport
Dublin Airport Fire Service responded to the incident and passengers disembarked the aircraft normally once the all clear was given by the Airport Fire Officer.
A spokesperson for the operator of Dublin Airport, daa, said on Sunday: “A Full Emergency was declared Dublin Airport this afternoon following the arrival of Ryanair flight FR5542 from LPL_Airport.
“Passengers disembarked the aircraft normally.
“Air Traffic flows into Dublin Airport were restricted during the incident.”
There were no initial reports of any injuries, however one passenger was treated for shock.
Plane arrivals into Dublin Airport were suspended during the incident and the South Runway at the airport remained closed for the evening.
National Ambulance Service personnel and medics met passengers on arrival inside the terminal.
A statement on Twitter continued: “This is now an aircraft recovery incident.
“There are no reports of any injuries although 1 person was treated for shock.
“National Ambulance Service personnel met passengers on arrival.
“The South Runway remains closed and the North Runway is in use this evening due to the emergency.”
A Ryanair spokesperson said: “This flight from Liverpool to Dublin experienced a minor technical issue with its nose landing gear upon landing.
“Passengers and crew disembarked normally and the aircraft will shortly be towed back to the hangar for further inspection by Ryanair engineers.”
A passenger on the flight told the Irish Sun that the landing was “heavy” and the plane seemed “out of control” after attempting to brake.
‘HAPPENED SO QUICKLY’
They said: “The landing was really heavy. The plane seemed slightly out of control after the brakes were applied.
“I did feel at one point the plane was going to tip sideways then it turned off runway and stopped dead.
“It all happened so quickly it took some moments to realise what had happened.
“There was enough time between landing and turning off runway for me to comment to guy beside me that the landing was seriously heavy.
“I initially thought it must be really windy because of the way the plane swerved.”
The emergency comes as Dublin Airport expects 485,000 passengers to pass through its gates over the Easter weekend.
