During Tuesday’s (December 6) episode, Rachel pulled out a series of letters for the celebrity contestants to create a word with.

At the end of the round, she displayed a word she had created, which was ‘antedote’.

Many of the show’s loyal fans instantly flagged that she had “spelt it wrong!”

Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “Surely it’s antidote rather than antedote?”

His post gathered some attention from fellow viewers, as one responded: “Agree. Surely not a word.

“Just tried searching for it and only found a firm with that name.”

Another fan pointed out something that had annoyed them about the number round.

They wrote: “(8×25) – (6+5+3) = 186 #countdown Gosh, they made a right meal of an easy one.”

To which another fan of the show pointed out: “They also spelt Antidote wrong!

“Rachel Riley put it on the board as “Antedote”.

Some even suggested that she had “stolen” former co-host Susie Dent’s job.

However, one viewer came to Rachel’s defence, saying she actually got it right: “It’s a different one. Antedote was correct; it discovers and unlocks growth.”

As the original poster replied quickly: “Antedote is the name of a company that claims to do that.

“It’s a proper noun and therefore invalid in the contest.”
