Terrifying moment speeding Asda van nearly SMASHES into cars as it weaves through motorway traffic & tailgates in tunnel

THIS is the terrifying moment an Asda delivery van swerves through two lanes of traffic on a busy road at high speed, nearly smashing into cars.

The near-miss was filmed by an Uber passenger, Darren Wells, who described it as “shocking”.

Darren, 41, from Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, was on his way to an event in Canary Wharf, East London, when the van began “undertaking and swerving between lanes”.

He told The Sun Online: “There were other cars trying to slow him down. It looked shocking.

“[The driver] was all over the place. The van was swaying visibly.

“The van was close to tipping over. It was terrifying.”

In the first clip he sent to The Sun Online, the Asda driver can be seen speeding up the inside lane before swerving violently.

The vehicle is briefly on just two wheels as they change direction sharply, before almost rear-ending a vehicle ahead of them.

Darren’s Uber driver can be heard yelling “what a nutter” as the horror unfolds.

A second video shows other motorists trying to box the van in inside a tunnel and collectively attempt to slow him.

The van brakes sharply to avoid going into the back of the car in front, while Darren reported that the driver was visibly frustrated.

Darren added that throughout the “scary” ordeal he was just thinking that it would be “carnage” if the driver had lost control and flipped the vehicle.

He said that he has since asked Asda to contact him through the supermarket giant’s online complaints page, but is yet to discuss the experience with them.

The stunned passenger added: “I feel bad for Asda. I’m sure it’s not a representation of them.

“Asda’s logo flying around the highway, potentially killing people, isn’t great for them.”

The Metropolitan Police had no record of any reports received in relation to the incident.

A spokesperson for Asda told The Sun: “The actions in this video fall far below the standards that we expect of our drivers and as soon as we were made aware of the footage we immediately launched an internal investigation.”
