Inside rugby player’s heartbreak after splitting with girlfriend – just before her family won £61m EuroMillions jackpot

A LAD was dumped by his girlfriend just months before her family won a £61million EuroMillions jackpot.

Unlucky Daniel White narrowly missed out on a share of the huge sum when his then-partner Courtney Davies’ sister’s numbers came up.

The childhood sweethearts, who met at school in south east Wales, had been dating for two years when she broke things off over text in 2016.

They had apparently drifted apart and found new friends, and Courtney had moved to Southampton for university.

Though not devastated at the time, Daniel soon felt heartbroken when he heard her relatives were now multi-millionaires.

Courtney’s sister Stephanie bought a lucky dip ticket from her local garage on a Friday night and scooped £61m.

The family shared out the lottery winnings, which included giving £12m to Stephanie’s boyfriend Steve.

To really rub it in, rugby player Daniel was living next to Courtney’s sister at the time.

He previously said: “All my mates are savaging me – the first I knew of their win was my phone going nuts.

“The boys were all sending me links and jokey Snapchats asking if I was gutted.

“One said ‘how much have you cried since you found out mate?’

“I just put my head in my hands. I’m happy for them – but obviously I feel like it could have been me.”

Daniel later joked: “Courtney could give me a million a year for the two years I went out with her – I wouldn’t say no to that.”

But it appears Daniel, who used to work for the Welsh Rugby Union, has refound love and bought a house with his new partner.

Photos shared on Facebook show the grinning couple holding a set of keys outside the property.

Stephanie’s winning EuroMillions numbers were 01, 21, 26, 40 and 50, while the lucky star numbers were 02 and 04.

She scored a whopping £61,102,442.90, which she divvied up five ways.
