Why is ChatGPT always down? How to fix and work around a capacity error

HUGELY popular AI bot ChatGPT appears to be the talk of the digital town.

But it’s global fame means users are often plagued with capacity errors, as the servers struggle to accommodate the millions of people wanting to use it.

Why is ChatGPT always full?

The internet’s favourite chatbot reached 100million users just two months after it was first launched in November last year.

Since then, that figure has grown steadily.

More recently, the success and notoriety of the newest version of the chatbot – ChatGPT-4 – has opened the flood gates to excited tech users yet again.

With so many people using it for lengthy pieces of code and even essays, the rate at which ChatGPT falls into a capacity or network error is increasing.

What to do when ChatGPT is at full capacity?

When ChatGPT is at full capacity, you have a few options: Go outside, pick up that old project, or even start a new hobby, to name a few.

But if you’re insistent on using ChatGPT, there are two options to try and evade the queue:

Firstly, using a VPN can help if your local area is experiencing high levels of traffic by hiding your IP address.

Secondly, try a different browser.

Although waiting for the traffic to die down will often do the trick.

Who owns ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is owned by a company known as OpenAI.

The company behind ChatGPT was initially founded in 2015 by Twitter owner and eccentric billionaire Elon Musk, alongside Greg Brockman, Ilya Sutskever, Wojciech Zaremba, and Sam Altman.

However, Musk stepped down from the board in February 2018 to avoid any potential future conflict with his car company Telsa.

Since then, a lot has changed for the company.

The company caught attention over at Microsoft in 2019, when the tech behemoth began pumping investments into the AI startup.

OpenAI is now in a long-term partnership with Microsoft, which reportedly signifies around $10billion worth of investment from Bill Gates’ tech empire.
