Reason why Meghan & Harry used ‘fake’ doc footage revealed by ex-staffer who insists ‘we did everything to protect her’

MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry had to use “misleading” footage in a trailer for their new Netflix series because they didn’t have anything real to include, a former staff member has claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been accused of “fakery” for featuring clips of demanding paparazzi following other celebs.

Part of one of the teasers appears to show them being swarmed by cameras, but the photographers were actually surrounding ex-glamour model Katie Price and Donald Trump’s former lawyer, it is claimed.

Another clip shows a photo from 1938, long before the pair were born, and a fourth was from a Harry Potter premiere in 2011 – years before they met.

Pointing to the “fake” media frenzy scenes, one former employee told The Times: “She never confronted scenes where she was mobbed because we did so much to protect her, so they’ve had to make them up.”

The promo videos also give the impression a lone snapper covertly photographed the Sussexes and son Archie inside a private home.

But it was later revealed this was a pre-agreed visit to the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2019.

Royal biographer Angela Levin said: “I’m speechless. It’s absolutely astonishing.”

The couple’s highly-anticipated Netflix documentary is due out on December 8.

Trailers for the six-part series show Meghan, 41, and Harry, 38, taking repeated swipes at the Royal Family.

In one clip, in a chilling reference to Princess Diana‘s death, Harry says: “I didn’t want history to repeat itself.”

In another, a tearful Meghan says: “I realised they’ll never protect you.”

And the prince goes on to warn his family: “No one knows the full truth. We know the full truth.”

Netflix refused to comment on the use of “misleading” pictures.
