FACEBOOK, now known as Meta, is hauling even more ads into Instagram.
Just when you thought the commercialisation of the platform had reached its peak.

“People come to Instagram to discover new brands, products or upcoming events,” Meta-owned Instagram said in an statement last night.
“We’re introducing two new ad products that give businesses more ways to get discovered.”
It was only a matter of time, because ads are what keep Meta’s most popular apps, Facebook and Instagram, alive.
From today, Instagrammers can receive three notifications from Instagram one day before, 15 minutes before, and at the time of an advertised event.
Fortunately, this is only on an opt-in basis.
But Instagram is also trialling another ad format – which users are expected to find much more invasive.
Ads might start to crop up in search results in the coming months, for users worldwide.
“We’re also beginning to test ads in search results to reach people actively searching for businesses, products and content,” Instagram explained.
“Ads will show up in the feed that people can scroll when they tap into a post from search results.
“We plan to launch this placement globally in the coming months.”
It’s good new for the app’s entrepreneurs.
But others aren’t happy.
One Instagram user Tweeted out in frustration, saying: “This app is just an ads, and ads machine!”
“These ad rates are going to be through the roof,” said another Twitter user.
